Board of Health
The mission of the Carlstadt Board of Health is to promote good health and prevent disease, improve access to health services, assess changing community needs for health services, and provide health services with efficiency to improve the health of all Carlstadt residents. The health services provided are available to residents in Carlstadt and reflect state-mandated standards of performance. The staff ensures the compliance and enforcement of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection laws and New Jersey State regulations. The Board is responsible for the development of long-term goals and annual objectives for enhancing the quality of life for Carlstadt residents.
The Board of Health members monitor the activities of the Health Official, Sanitary Inspector and the Public Health Nurse from Holy Name Hospital.

Submit a plan for a new retail food establishment
Make sure your inspections are in order as you prepare to open your new establishment. Per N.J.A.C. 8:24 – 9.1(c), The health authority shall review these plans and respond accordingly within 30 days of the date of submission.

Review the checklist below as you prepare for your final inspection. Written approval from applicable Municipal Building, Electric, Fire Prevention, and Plumbing Code Officials is required before a pre-operational health inspection by your local health authority.
