Retail Food Establishment Sanitation Codes

What are Retail Food Establishment Sanitation codes?

Restaurants, caterers, food stalls, food trucks, and online retail food businesses are regulated and licensed by Mid-Bergen Regional Health Commission. As a Retail Food Establishment owner, it is your responsibility to understand and comply with N.J.A.C. 8:24 “Sanitation in Retail Food Establishments and Food and Beverage Vending Machines.”

Submit a plan for a new retail food establishment

Make sure your inspections are in order as you prepare to open your new establishment. Per N.J.A.C. 8:24 – 9.1(c), The health authority shall review these plans and respond accordingly within 30 days of the date of submission.

Review the checklist below as you prepare for your final inspection. Written approval from applicable Municipal Building, Electric, Fire Prevention, and Plumbing Code Officials is required before a pre-operational health inspection by your local health authority.
